Do you think it will prolong life of the engine ?

2.3L Direct Injection Mazda 3.

I'm worried that all those different additives my mess up with my Injectors. ?

Or maybe just stick to old Good Redline with Upper Cylinder Lubricants

I put a pint of MMO is my tank once a year. I first did it when my van was sputtering in the mornings. It cleaned it up. Been doing it ever since.

I'd rather use Amsoil PI or something like Gumout Regane for injector cleaning ..but there may be some beneficial properties to MMO in terms of some UCL and whatnot.

It's cheap enough to use and try out ..and there's nothing that I can think of that it would foul that can't be corrected with time (assuming you're not doing some massive dosing).

Oh I used ... PI love it .. you know my car is Amsoil all way round .. Brakes, Coolant, PS, Engine... Fluid washer isn't

im planning to use MMO as a UCL ...

but i wonder if there is maybe some better choice

so I guess PI + MMO good stuff ? One as a cleaner one as UCL

What about Lucas Gas Treatment as a UCL, is it as good as MMO, not trying to start an argument, just want some facts.

Is Lucas really good uper lubricant ?

See the thing with lucas is that they sell that Oil Stabilizer its not really good product ( Opinions from BITOG ) so I wonder if Lucas UCL is a good product.

I don't know ..but I don't think that there would be much of a downside to it. MMO gets a nasty rep in oil from most due to how it plays havoc with basic oil chemistry, but given the dry nature of our fuel, I think there may be some benefit to a UCL of some type. Usually the cost:benefit ratio comes into play. MMO is surely cheap enough to use. I don't know of the UCL properties of MMO except my observations with higher dosage use. It did leave a "wetness" on the combustion chamber surfaces ..which may be the "resin" that they refer to in regard to when it's exposed to combustion. I would reason so.

When I way over dosed my fuel with it, my starting went from a few cranks to "bump of the key". I really couldn't explain the improvement since forensic analysis showed the plugs sooted up pretty well. The improved starting didn't disappear in subsequent tanks ..so the effect was lasting in whatever it was.

Hi Garry,

Whats your opinion on FP60 ... Maybe I should just stick with it ...

Im kinda afraid of mmo

and I don't think there are any problems with FP. as well it has UCL.

I've never used FP60 ..so I can't give you an opinion.

I would not fear using MMO at some sensible treat rate.

Now I'm the type that perpetually monitors my fuel economy. It's a good way to keep track of tune in a crude manner. Now if that doesn't work for you (your mpg varies too much from tank to tank due to the way you may drive differently from time to time) ..then just start using MMO a few tankfuls before your scheduled plug change. Or if you're willing and able to pull a couple of plugs after a few tankfuls ..do that.

At a reasonable treat rate, I can't really see anything bad happening. I can't see the stuff doing anything harmful.

Who knows? You may find something new and trick to share with the BITOG community in the realm of di fuel systems.

one problem ... I was just searching ... And I can't find a place in CA. that is selling MMO.

How much should I add to full tank ?

Thx Garry :)

Wow every parts store around here sells MMO. Did you check Walmart? That is if there is a Walmart in CA? As far as a treat rate, they suggest 4oz/10 gal of gas. I am running a qt in 20 gallons as sort of a shock dose (inspired by Gary Allan) although not the same brew. The car has gone about 125 miles on it and seems fine, nice and smooth. I am thinking of going a little stronger, then back off for the NYS inspection I need in January. After seeing the impressive results he had I am 100% confident in running it in that strong a dose.

HTH,

Hi Frank,

I will check Walmart tonight...

It was available ... in CT - but they stop carrying it.
There is even a msg on MMO. website about that.

So you are seeing difference ? What car you have ?

Thank You :)

I've been using MMO for years, and have always been happy with it. It is currently in the gas in my 08 Jeep and 93 Aerostar, it is fed through an Inverse Oiler in my 88 E-150 for more years than I can remember.

I am running a mega dose in the 93 Aerostar as I mentioned above. It always passes NYS inspection, but I am past due for a tune up and wanted to see if a mega dose before the NYS inspection will keep the NOx levels low. I will not add any MMO to the gas the 2 tank fulls before the inspection.

I was able to tell the difference with the mega dose. As far as the other vehicles I am so used to running it that I don't notice a thing. But then again, its pretty much in the gas all the time. On occasion I switch the Aerostar to TCW3, and have mixed MMO with TCW3. I believe it raises compression slightly because it gives the piston rings a better seal, that seems to smoothen things out and give a little more power. Remember though too much will decrease octane and cut power. I have increased the drip rate fooling around with the Inverse Oiler to the point where I can see a drop in power.

Thank You :)

could you please tell me what is TCw3 ?

Is it two stroke oil ?

So any TCw3 added to gas is safe ?
And it will perform like UCL ?

I'm planning on small doses of UCL, or MMO .. etc..

Just maintenance no shock doses.

I just find out about Schaffer Soy Shield ..

TCW3 oil is for water cooled 2 cycle engines and is ashless, many guys here swear by it. Lucas UCL gets some good reviews too, but is almost twice the cost of MMO or TCW3, so I shy away from it. What I like about MMO is it does some cleaning, is a great top oil, and attacks and prevents carbon buildup.

If you decide to use MMO I would suggest using it this way: First get a good FI cleaner like Techron, Regane, or Amsoil's PI. I would run one of these cleaners as per instructions just before an oil change. Then once you've run that tank down, start using the MMO. The MMO will act like a top oil, and keep everything nice and clean. The good news is once everything is clean from one of the cleaners I mentioned, it will stay that way. It also lubes the injector tips and helps to maintain the spray pattern. I got this information from Mr. Kelly the MMO tech over at Turtle Wax.

HTH,
Frank D

Yep, it is 2-stroke oil and safe to run in gas. There's a monster thread on it and I suggest you check it out...

Thank you my friends.
I will look for that topic.

I used Redline SI-1 not long time agoo ... So I can skip that part and start using MMO. If I will be able to find it in Canada.

Sounds like you're ready for MMO. Good luck finding it, its all over the place in the USA. Let us know how it works for you!

Frank D

:D I will move to US. because of the cheap Oil and All good stuff available ... :D Nah. I love Canada :D But I may visit you guys from time to time :P
