I know you shouldn't mix types such as conventional and synthetic. But i have a bike that takes about a 1/2 quart over a gallon if i drain it real good. The oils i use comes in 1 gallon jugs and is quite expensive, and the quarts are even moreso at around $12. I hate to have to buy a gallon then spend another $12 on a single quart, and i have several quarts left over from various experiments with oil, so i wanted to know whether it's ok to mix as long as it's a small amount like 1/2 quart added to a gallon. I have some Mobil 1 V twin synthetic that i'd like to add to a gallon of motul 7100 full synthetic. I also have some Torco blend i'd like to add to it after i run out of the mobil 1. I have about 5-6 quarts of those 2 oils and i intend to use motul 7100 for now on so i'd like to use those up and in the process not have to buy extra quarts in addition to the gallons. Is that ok or is it not a good idea?

If you did that you would be mixing true full synthetic with false full synthetic. It would probably be ok (remember they make semi-synthetic) but I would use the spares in my lawn equipment. Just buy gallons of the Motul and keep the extra for next change.

Yes, but thats what blend is anyways. I mean, blend is 50/50 synth/dino so would it matter? But i think the big question is whether it matters or not in general, does it when using such a small amount of a different brand added to the gallon? I don't have another use for it, IE: no mower or anything.

Mix away. There is no problems with mixing oils. The API doesn't recommend mixing different viscosities but I have never had a problem with that either. Mix away daz.

Yeah, they're all the same, 20w50. One may be 15w50 but thats close. I never did understand why it would hurt to mix any oil really.
