I'm thinking of getting it now that Pep Boys has it on sale for about $15/gallon. I've kind of neglected changing the coolant on my 2004 WRX. The last time it was changed was about 5 years ago with a new aluminum radiator. I gave the guy who did the job a bottle of Subaru Extended-Life green. I don't know if it was completely used, padded with water (still likely over 40% concentrate) or what, but I think it's still in good shape.

However, the Recochem selector recommends green for my WRX and blue for my wife's 2002 Civic. The factory fill in her Civic was apparently green Honda Type 2 before they switched it over to a blue dye. I did a partial change less than a month ago, and it still looks more or less green. I did finally pull out the overflow bottle (for whatever reason it was almost out the top) and then poured some fresh blue Honda Type 2 coolant to the middle between MIN and MAX.

Any issues with just getting green and using it as needed with these two cars? I still have a little bit of the Honda Type 2. I know they have a long list of applications where they say it's OK to use blue or green. Is it just a color difference?

Many people (including me) believe that all of the OEM brand coolants* are the same except for color....that is P-HOATS designed for Asian vehicle requirements.....if true you would have no issue using the green in both cars.
*The OEM brand coolant designed for European cars would not be a P-HOAT but more of a Dexclone.

The other issue is that Pep Boys only seems to have the green anyways. $14.90 right now on sale.

"OEM" is just a name, I don't think anyone with even a little automotive knowledge is going to think it's a factory produced coolant (like Toyota, Honda, Ford, etc.). Recochem makes it, I'm sure it'll be fine. At least it's available as a full concentrate!
