Mirror adhesive or adhesive patches

Unfortunately my drivers side mirror busted, the mirror housing is ok just the glass broke thankfully. The truck sits in the street so I'm assuming another truck came along and hit it with their mirror.

Any way the mirror I ordered came to day and came with round adhesive patches when I really need strips so my options are cut the round patches into strips or I have some Permatex clear RTV silicone adhesive.

What would you guys suggest. I'm going to do this this weekend and the high is only going to be in the upper 40's, would one work better than the other or use both. I was thinking of heating it up a bit with a hair dryer.

Any suggestions appreciated, I'm hoping to only have to do this once.

Just be careful with silicone, some might not be compatible with the coating on the back of the mirror and could damage it. I'd go to a glass shop and ask what they use for mirrors.

I second that, would not use the Permatex clear RTV because it's acid-cure and might eat up the silver coating on the back of the glass. https://glassshop.com.au/how-to-install-a-mirror-safely/

Gorilla double sided tape.....stuff is beyond comprehension, I stuck a battery operated hockey buck study led motion light last month, stuff is still on, and when you reef on it no sign of it even budging. And this is in the cold.

Thanks guys, I will skip the glue and just use the adhesive patches that came with it since this mirror is double sided, the last one I replaced on a LeSabre was only reflective on one side. I did a quick measurement and if I cut the circles into strips it should about cover the raised portion of the backing plate. For some reason this raised area of the backing plate is in U shape and about a 1/2 inch wide, most of the videos on line show the whole backing plate coming into contact with the mirror.
