My wifes' 2000 GC 3.3 gets 18/19 local driving, Trip driving is around 22.5/23.5 round trip with local driving in the middle. My wifes' local commute averages 19.5. When I drive the same route, I get 21.5. Think I mentioned somewhere that mt wife is a 2 pedal driver.

2001 ford windstar, 58Kmi, old-school pushrod 3.8L, ~22mpg day to day driving. ~24mpg easy hywy cruising.

hello
What kind of fuel economy are minivan owners getting with their vehicles.
I don't mean the non-stop vacation drive with the cruise set at 70mph, but, regular driving to work, picking up kids, shopping, things like that.
We have a 99 Quest with EPA of 17/24 and during normal use it gets 17MPG. My 94 Accord wagon, with EPA ratings of 21/27 gets 24MPG on the exact same driving route with the same driver.

Wow ..this is about the same as I get with my 92 Caravan. Short trip ..about 18-20 (worse with heavy oil) ...about 24.x on a highway road trip. about 21-22 for my wife's commute. The mileage is, more or less, dependent upon the number of cold start events.

My '01 Windstar gets around 15-16mpg in city use. I mean really hard stop and go, short trip use burning crappy ethanol fuel. I can maybe squeeze 20mpg on the highway. I don't do jack rabbit start and stops- it just gets bad mileage. I do like the van though, but the mileage is rotten. My '99 Taurus gets slightly better economy.

If you want minivan fuel economy stay away from the kia sedona. It gets the wost of the bunch.

Yep, It had the 3.5L V6 and it's a gutless gas hog. Man that vehicle has to have been the worst vehicle choice I'd ever made. Don't make the same mistake as I did.

1991 Toyota Previa. 4 cyl/auto.

A heavy solid van.

Around 17 in town when I took things easy.

Pleasently surprised on the freeway at 70 mph when the average was 30 mpg.

Ya know? I get about the same mileage with my 89 Turbo Caravan with almost 199K miles..

Really, they all have about the same weight, and about the same frontal area. It would be interesting to take all the different minis to a race track and run them for several hours at 100mph and check the gas mileage then......

2003 Kia Sedona EX. Heavy vehicle. 15-18 mpg mixed city/highway, 10% ethanol (can't avoid it around here), mostly short trips. On the road I've seen 20+. Average is around 16-17, add 1-2 more in the summer, and 1-2 more again if we stick to the road. 3.5L, "only" 200 HP but plenty of torque, and 5 speeds. It's no rocket but it's not bad, either. On the highway it's actually pretty good. This is in the winter with Nokian Hakka-2 SUV tires which are VERY aggressive. Bought with 14K (used), coming up on 30K.

In case you are wondering, it mostly gets Citgo Supergard 5W-30 but now and again Mobilclean 5W-30 and I might even do a few synthetics (Mobil or Amsoil) to clean it up a bit. I've run two auto-rx stages because at purchase time it was starting to get that shellac-like color - no sludge, but a discoloration. Mystery maintainership prior to that. It is cleaning up quite nicely, IMO.

Oh, and it's a bit noisy - I'm under no illusions that it's a Honda or a Toyota, but it meets my needs at a price I could (barely) afford!

Say, has anybody got opinions on the new Nissan minivan? Funky looking but I kinda liked it. WAYYY too expensive, though.

2000 Dodge Grand Caravan w/3.3L V6
21-22 mpg on highway, but I drive 75-80 mph whenever I'm on the expressway

1998 Chrysler 3800 V6 T&C LXI - Never had a tank of gas with lower than 20 mpg, most are in the 22 to 24 range. Normal hiway mpg is in the upper 20's running in the low 60's. Have had many fillups register at 30+ on road trips.
