I need to filter used mineral spirits , not used with any paint products at all, this used solution is some spirits and "goo", from wire I need to get filtered out of solution. Anyone ever know anyone who has done this or done this themselves?

coffee filters or a mesh paint type filter
Are you absolutely sure? This stuff is not paint. It is more of an oily goo. Somewhat like the goo at the bottom of an oil pan from an engine which did not get any oil changes regularly

I use mineral spirits as solvent for greasy parts. Let the black solution sit in a clear soda bottle, and the sludge settles to the bottom in a day or three. Then, pour off the clean stuff off the top and you are ready for reuse.

That said, I'm not sure if the same separation will occur with that "goo" you have dissolved. It's worth a try, though.

BTW, maybe just me, but I've never had any luck filtering anything other than coffee with a coffee filter.

Ya, as of today, 2 weeks, finally some of the goo settled. The pour off was about a 1/4 cup of good stuff from maybe 10 cups before the goo started to travel into the pour.

Sounds like the goo went well into solution being that only 2.5% was decantable.
Maybe some fraction of the petro-based plastic mixes well with mineral spirits and a gradient takes longer to establish vs. the solids found in paints?
A polymer struggling to maintain itself?

Try 3-4 layers cotton cheesecloth after chilling.

Now, this sounds like something to work with, thankyou very much
