Mikayla Raines - Fox Rescue Lady

I was the planning commissioner chair and ran the meeting that we recommended her Conditional Use Permit be revoked for her fox rescue.

She could not and did not follow the requirements and regulations to do what she was doing and she ultimately moved elsewhere. In the meantime, she was very good at riling people up with half truths and false representations.

Main point: while a tragic outcome, don't believe everything you've been lead to believe...

Yes, lets bash the deceased. Very uncool.

Pretty much how the press has been always.

As I said, a tragic end.

No bashing. Again, I dealt with her in person in a business capacity. Did you?

If all you want to believe is the warm fuzzy stuff fed to you by their social media, reality will leave you sadly disappointed. You saw all the emotional appealing, warm and fuzzy and the world is out to get me and these foxes. Meantime, the stories neighbors had and other who dealt with her would give you another perspective.

Are those perspectives not valid?

You could be the greatest person on earth and if your dog barked at night occasionally you'd be a bad neighbor worthy of unkind words at your funeral...

988 is the national suicide and crises phone lifeline. At the minimum, make sure people you are concerned about know it.

My most recent involvement with suicide was a wonderful military veteran. She suffered PTSD. Our grand daughter struggled with bullying on her high school competitive cheer team last year. She left the team and is the better for it - one never knows when the few seconds to make that fateful decision one way or the other might come.

Sure...on the business side of things. But since she killed herself...now...no. She looks to have done a lot of good things...that should be the focus. I'm sure her husband and daughter would like to hear more about conditional use permits.

I think that it is o.k. to discuss truth and facts if done in the correct context, and that is to learn from the situation in the hopes that some good might come out of it for the future of others.

As Pablo stated, the press/social media is a sad state of affairs that has weakened critical thinking skills. EDIT: My current crop of college students - whoa is me - many seem to lack life skills/concepts of work ethic, communication, consequences, etc.. Some are severely testing my mentoring skills, or lack thereof.

This thread has mostly run its course. (my opinion, but carry on)

This very old story comes to mind .
Go to 22 minutes if you care to see it. Being a good person doesn't always please your neighbors...
