Gents,

I've used Microgreen oil filters in the past. I note that they will occasionally have half-off sales (the most recent one was for Earth day). During a half-off sale, I can get two filters, delivered to my door, for $17.49, or $8.75 each. This puts them squarely in the price region of a Mobil 1, or a Fram Ultra filter.

I'm hesitant to run my oil for 30,000 miles (like Microgreen suggests) but it's a well-built filter with a built-in bypass filter down to 2 microns.

Right now, I use this filter, Mobil 1 5w30 EP, and change both according to the OLM.

Do any of you see a downside* to just using the Microgreen filter and replacing it (and, of course, the oil) when the OLM suggests?

* Besides the cost. I buy the oil at Walmart, I buy the filter as noted and I supply the labor. Given these, the cost is not unreasonable.

I see no downside if you're looking for high efficiency in a filter for under $10.

Have you cut any of the ones you've used open to inspect?

Yup. Looks like a standard filter with a teflon wafer gizmo at the top. Most of the oil goes through the main filter, and some of it goes through the top, through the sintered teflon, and into the center oil return region.

If I catch the sales, it's price competitive with other premium filters.

I try everything and buy way too much. So I'd give them a try just to experiment. But you can't go wrong with ultras or m1's.

Thats what I did with them. Run 'em 4800 miles and burn 'em. Earth day... lol that fusion ball in the sky does more to influence the world than a half price sale. I bought 4 more of them. Now all the stash has filters... 16 oil changes lol
