Mercedes EQS Test Drive

I may, though the NY timeframe is very bad for me, Maybe will try to go to Philly.

Im not digging the lines of the cars. They’re no w123/126/210/211… but the tech and how it compares and relates to Tesla would be interesting. That giant 56” screen scares me. I can see the car being totaled when it fails in a number of years.

spoiler alert: it won’t
Oh?

How many MB cars have a 56” screen with cameras all over like this?

Cars get totaled over a few airbags.

$20k in cameras and screens that become obsolete is bound to be an issue.

Yeah, they've had screens in cars for decades and screen failure isn't common. Of course electronics failure is much more common.
And euro cars cost an arm and two legs to repair that stuff. It isn’t cheap in run of the mill vehicles let alone high end euro cars.

And these giant screens haven’t been out long enough to get into the timeframe where they all hit their design mortality age.

On the E class, they've had screens for at least the last 3 generations in the W211, W212, and W213, screen failure isn't a common complaint. They have had them in the S class also. I think by this time they've kinda figure out how to make screens. When a screen on your phone dies, mostly like that comes from getting dropped, not just some random failure. Indeed, big screen TVs can easily go on for a decade or more. By the time it it 10+ years, you'll be able to find them in a junkyard. You could also do up to 7 years on an extended warranty and by the time these cars are 7+ years old, they will probably depreciate to about 1/3 of list price or less.

I am just waiting 80” TV in one of these EV’s.
Maybe they'll do that in a pano roof one day.
