Seeing as you are a squid err swabbie and are into tradition, then I suspect a Hula girl on the left arm and an anchor on the right bicep.

When you get tired of your trendy piercings you take them out and the holes close up. Well, maybe not those 1" dia ring things some put in their earlobes...

That was the rumour here in the 1980s as well. Maybe it's a Canadian school thing.

Same thing in Oz at the time.
Left for Straight, Right for gay, both for gay....lots of both for biker

We had a murder case here where a chap from England came here and his Grindr hook up was
killed.
That's when I found out about Grindr.
And all the years of hearing Rob Halford sing.
Grinder looking for meat!

Ear-ring, Goatee, and long hair....I guess I don't fit in here.

Long hair is okay as long as it's not a mullet or a ponytail, especially if there's nothing on top.

LOL, no, it's just long...never been cut in 16 years.

Which is scary, it's getting shorter and shorter, which means that the life cycle of the follicles is getting shorter...

I've threatened the family that I'll eventually end up with a "skullett", and my daughter offered to smother me in my sleep.

So as soon as the familial bald spot comes out (although I've done pretty OK at 51 so far), out come the clippers, and then like Samson, I lose all my powers.

No problems with them at all, but like tattoos, they are an identifier - ''Oh yeah, and he's got an earing in his left ear too...'' I've spent my life trying to be invisable, but in this culture the opposite approach would be more successful.

Grindr is quite something special, and not in a good way. It's far from a "gay tinder" lol. It's way more direct, most conversations are started with pictures of things I never asked for and if you don't want to hook up the same day you're a prude. Apparently I'm a prude. Lots of super clingy, not attractive, even crazy dudes on there. But also some really genuine, adorable, handsome guys. The ratio of one to the other is not favorable though lol.

Get a neck tattoo and be done with it mate, you'll be kicked off BITOG for good! God some of the people here make me laugh - judgemental, much? Piercings, tattoos, beards, long hair - whatever, each to their own, it has sweet FA to do with me or anyone else.

My opinion is only based on my perspective, and I don't mean to offend anyone, so I apologize in advance ...

I accept that guys wear earrings; it does not bother me overall. I personally don't wear them, but I don't recoil when I see guys wearing earrings. That does not mean I like the look; I don't. But I don't cringe away, either. Much of it depends upon the presentation and quantity. Things can be tasteful or gaudy in nearly every facet of life. Personal appearance is no different.

Funny thing is, to me, that earrings and tats and goatees used to be a sign that you were different; essentially avant garde, so to speak. Having tats and some bling jewelry back in the day meant you were a bad-boy; you didn't want to fit in. You wanted to rebel. But it's hard to stand out from the crowd now when 75% of the people standing around you have some form of ink on their neck, arms, torso and legs, with multiple piercings on your head somewhere, etc. It's hard to be different when a LARGE percentage of the population now does the same thing. You're not different or rebellious now; you're just one of the crowd. You might THINK you're being different, but when everyone else is doing it, then you're not really different at all.

If you've got piercings/tats/facial hair because you honestly just like the look and you don't care what I or others think, then good for you!
If you've done those things because you think it will set you apart and improve your bad-boy image, well, you're mistaken.

I've known so many people that work with/for me whom have ink and/or jewelry adornments that I just do not pay attention any longer. It's everywhere, so it's nothing but background noise to me now.

I thought the Jetta was a fairly cheap family car . Never heard the gay thing . I found out that people that are hung up on those ideas are usually the ones that are .

My only jewelry was my wedding ring. When I snagged it on a nail, it went into my sock drawer. Snagging an earing would certainly sting. I shudder when I see guys with the head hunter ears.

Yeah it really is just for folks looking for quick fun most of the time (and risky if you ask me). It's sad really. I met my spouse on the internet, we chatted for quite a while before meeting somewhere public and did so a few times until things developed. 17 years later we are happily married and carrying on monogamous life together. Why this is so hard for so many is beyond me.

I don't remember the kids teasing the other school kids about having earings (some did). Maybe just a regional thing but it certainly wasn't here in the Greater Toronto Area at the various schools I and my siblings attended and trust me there was lots of other things folks were being teased about. My brother was teased and bullied for being a really smart kid that skipped a grade and ended up at a school for extremely advanced kids. (Gifted program as it were).

Nothing destroys a woman's good looks than silly tattoos, breast implants, fake color contact lenses or goofy fake eye lashes.

For men, its perfectly OK.
