Not sure about the media(probably paper as they don't advertise synthetic), but I have gone 10K with a MC cartridge filter in the Fusion and it looked fine. Mobil 1 Extended Performance oils claim 15K OCIs with no special filters required and no filter change in between. The key is for the engine to be clean to start with. I have no problems at all doing 10K OCIs with a MC filter.

I would go 7k miles on that filter no problem, on a clean running engine.
