I had this UOA done with only 350 miles on the oil but it has been in the vehicle for about five months. The warranty will run out in May and I wanted to be sure the small amount of coolant I lost was not getting into the oil.

The main reason I'm posting it is due to the controversy over the best way to store a vehicle thats not in use. In the winter, I sometimes don't use it for months at a time. I like to start it up and let it idle for 45min - 1hour once a week. Some believe this will cause a build-up of fuel and water in the oil. In this case, it has not.

Buster is correct , that is a good dose of Boron . Boron is used as an anti-wear additive replacing the reduction of ZDDP. The next ILSAC upgrade will include even higher amounts of Boron especially in the lighter vis. grades , 0w20 and 5w20.

It's just one recipe for meeting spec. I dont get all that excited about individual levels of additives. As a reference, How do the UOA's of Havoline, with "all that moly" differ from say Valoline or GTX or Supertech with trace amounts of moly? How does this UOA of motorcraft with "all that boron" differ from other brands that use only trace amounts? UOA's are not used for checking quality of oil. They are used to establish engine condition trends. VOA's are used for a baseline for future UOA's.

Mannix, I agree however boron has been discussed as a very promising replacement for ZDDP. When used in conjunction with ZDDP, it provides better wear control than ZDDP alone.

I think 5w-20 is a good grade for the weekly 45 min warm-up.

What is insolubles?

In the Ford Duratec 3.0 report(9000 mile oci) ins is .3 and this one(350 miles) ins is .2. Looks like the measure of insolubles should use a finer scale.
