Have a 99 F150 4.6 V8 with a little over 100,000 miles. It does not leak on the pavement, but you can tell where it seeps a bit on the underside of the vehicle. It uses maybe a 1/2 quart to a quart over 3000 miles and 4 months. Always used Motorcraft/Tropartic oil. Purchased some Maxlife Blend 5W20 and was wondering if this is a good idea to put it in due to the seepage or if I should go back to the Trop Artic/Motorcraft. Original Oil was 5W30 but got back spec'd to 5W20. Always have used the Syn Blend stuff.

Either brand will serve you well, though at 100k, I'd probably run the 5W30 flavor.

I like Valvoline maxlife oils. I have used them a lot.

Try the 5w20 first then if the leak persist try the 5w30. May help with the leak a little more with the 5w30 but you have the 5w20 already so give it a go.

+1

Yeah, if you've got the 5W20 then go ahead and use it. I would just prefer 5W30 because that's what your engine was originally spec'd for, and now with 100k miles, why go thinner?
