Does anyone run Maxlife ATF in a late model GM that specifically calls for Dexron VI? I just checked the specs and the viscosity is about the same between Valvoline Dexron VI and Maxlife, with cold weather specs better for Maxlife.

Thanks. The Maxlife is a lot cheaper, and if it works well, I'm going to use it. Specific application is a 2007 Chevrolet Impala.

If no one chimes in here, you may want to check the Chevrolet fourms.

Yep. I would use MaxLife over Dex6 unless I could get Dex6 cheaper. Even then I'd probably still use MaxLife.

I think the OP is looking for testimonials not opinions. Or whether Valvoline states it can be used where DexVI is recommended.

Running MaxLife in my 08 BMW -- IT's a GM 6sp auto trans calling for Dex VI. Has only been a few thousand miles but so far feels great. Run it in 10Armada which calls for Nissan matic S, F-150 calling for Merc V, and Camry in the sig. Works great in all to date. Camry and Armada have 35-40k each with MaxLife in there.

A valvoline preso on the maxlife ATF, and where it meets what. It's a bit oldish...

Anyway, after reading that, it got the nod for my Caprice with 4L60E....not DexVI 'though.

Thanks mate. I'm going to try the Maxlife. 16 dollars for a 4 quart jug at Walmart. That's half the price of officially licensed Dexron VI, and the car is out of warranty. Plus, the specs look a tiny bit better for the Maxlife as far as cold weather properties.

I have used Maxlife syn ATF for years in a lot of different tranny's and it has always worked well. Its a full syn ATF and its priced right. I currently have it in my Jaguar XJS with LG Red and the tranny works fantastic... Very impressed.

I have used Valv Maxlife Dex/Merc in Dex III applications in my C5 corvette and my parents 04 avalanche and 03 S10 with zero problems. I have not yet used it in Dex VI applications as Supetertech Dex VI is cheaper and GM approved
