Since the Nissan MaticD is very similar to the Dex III, will we be able to use Dex VI in a auto transmission calling for MaticD?

Will the oil companies continue to make Dex III, or is Dex VI going to be backwards to cover all the previous Dex's?

My manual says that I can use Dex III if MaticD isn't available. When I asked the dealer, they told me that I have to use MaticD, and can't use Dex III - I just hung up the phone

I don't want to pay $5.00 a quart for MaticD from Nissan when I don't have to. I'm just concerned about the change over to Dex VI.

Thanks everyone,
Brian

DexVI is GM only backspec'd. AFAIK, no other maker has backspec'd Dex6 into their Dex/Merc transmissions.
But, it'll probably work in any Dexron spec'd transmission that is in good condition.
Most lame ATF's shear even thinner then DexronVI's 6.0cst and continue to work fine.

Another option are the blends(MerconV or multivehicle) ATF's. These are priced considerably lower then DexronVI.

Being that you're in TX, I don't see why you want the thin ATF. Just grab any synthetic Dexron from Amsoil, RoyalPurple, Mobil 1, Redline,.......and avoid your dealer.
