Marathon Gas ???????

Only in 2010 can we turn a thread about gas into something race based. This is the reason I hate watching the news too.

dwendt44 stated his observation in his area and everyone had to jump on and called it generalization and other things. Calm down.

My recent experiences in updating my fuel credit cards seem to indicate Marathon Oil is now one of the SuperFleet subsiduaries of Ashland Oil. The "family" now consists of Marathon, Speedway, Super America, Rich, Pilot, and Valvoline. Regardless the name on the station, top tier or otherwise, all the fuel in this area (southern West Virginia) comes from Ashland's Catletsburg, KY refinery. It all comes out of the same horse.

The base gas is the same, it is a brand's additive package that makes the difference.

That could explain why I only see Valvoline oil in a marathon or speedway...

I've heard Marathon is a decent gas to use and as long as it fits your pocket book then give it a try and see what happens. Here in California I use ARCO with no issues so why not????

Ive been running it about a month and I have seen to lost about 1mpg in the three vehicles I have.

Marathon advertises "STP gas treatment added" to help clean your engine.But when i used it i dropped mpg in my suzuki sidekick and in my wifes mazda tribute.Don't know why ,but i'll only use it as a last resort from now on.

Marathon Ashland Petroleum was a partnership between Marathon and Ashlands downstream refining division. It has since been bought by Marathon and Ashland doesn't own any part of the refining company.

What part of Michigan are you in? They are all over the place around here. In fact the Detroit Marathon Refinery/Terminal is the source for the majority of the gas in this market area, regardless of station branding.
