Even if the movie isn't pitch-perfect, Ritchie apparently was and is a fan of the original, and he and his actors have apparently worked to create something more than the usual modern movie with the old TV show's name. ("I Spy" with Eddie Murphy? I'm looking at YOU.)

When I heard about Cavill even sporting the old Solo pinky ring -- whether that's from Ritchie, or from Cavill doing his homework about the character -- my hopes lifted out of the cellar. They've stayed high with all the released photos and with every mention that the film is to be an adventure with dry humor rather than a comedy.

Again, even if it's not pitch-perfect . . . it may be new U.N.C.L.E. we can take to our hearts. And after all these years, it's about time.

Glad I saw your post- sounds encouraging. Nothing much on TV tonight anyway- may have to open up the silver box & play a MFU DVD or two. Mr. Waverly would probably approve.
