making a oil catch can.

I've seen lots of threads on other sites. I have a honda accord with pvc valve on top of the crankcase, with a hose that leads back to the intake.

Can i just route a hose from the pvc valve to my own homemade catch can (with steel wool side.)?

I know this just makes sure the oil is not put back into the intake. thanks!

This contraption is still on the market that does the same thing, although its design was for much older carb'd engines. Picked this one up at a local auction. Thinking about plumbing it in some day and see what happens.

There should not be any oil making its way through the PCV valve and hose into the intake. Its usually just vapors. If any small amounts of oil do make it, it just gets burned in the combustion chambers. Its not usually a problem unless the engine had excessive blow by on the rings and begins belching huge amounts of blowby.

Yes, make your own catch can.

What shouldn't happen and what happens are two different things. There are several vehicles that suck up oil because of packaging or engineering snafus.

The problems that occur, at least on my car, are in the high compression engines.

Entering the intake the oil lowers the octane, causing pinging. In turbos it is worse because the oil coats the intercooler and reduces its ability to cool the incoming charge.

In my own engine, I have small pools of oil in the intake manifold and a low RPM ping. Both have been eliminated by using a catch can.

Also, you need to make sure that you vent back into the intake after the catch-can. You likely know this but it wasn't mentioned in your post.
