Make an "enriched" Motorcraft semi synthetic oil?

OK, I'm a cheapskate; I have a F150 with the Ecoboost engine and while I really like the Motorcraft Full Synthetic oil ( the spec sheet reads better than Mobil 1 as far as pour and flash points are concerned )but it is expensive.
I don't have a problem with the cost of the Full Synthetic MC, it's just that while digging around on the internet I found out that the Ecoboost "Hero" engine supposedly did all its feats using MC semi syn oil. The spec sheet for that oil is not as nice as the Full Synthetic; way less pour and flash #s.

If you go to the Motorcraft web site the Full Synthetic is referred as "Top Quality" followed by their spiel about how great it is.
The semi syn if referred to as "Premium Quality" and the description includes excelling in dynometer and durability tests. It's almost as if Ford likes their semi syn over a Full Synthetic!

To me it just doesn't make any sense. What if I decided to make a home blend of the semi syn and Full Synthetic to use in the truck? Say maybe 50/50 or something like that.

It's the turbos that I am concerned with. Any thoughts on this or do I need a brain transplant?

You can mix 'em all day long. No brain transplant necessary.

You are thinking on the right track, but...Since so much testing has gone into the MC blend. I wouldn't worry too much, it is an outstanding oil. The Full Synthetic would be great though, so mix away!

As long as the SemiSyn MC is approved for warranty, just stick with it and save your money.

PS I'm jealous. I want an ecoboost but I use MC 5W20 so my 4.6 will last me another 20 years.

Shell Rotella T5 is a GII/GIII blend and commonly used for 60,000 mile drains in large truck fleets.

The Motorcraft Blend is very capable and in my opinion the primary reason for Motorcraft Synthetic is customer request not need.

If you're worried about the turbos, at least spring for an oil labeled as Full Synthetic.
Use any brand you'd like, or that you can get a deal on.
MC Full Synthetic should be good stuff.
With what you've got in the truck, why would you try to save a few dimes on oil?
Penny wise and pound foolish?

Thanks for all the replies guys; still mulling this over. fdcg27 I think you may be right - penny wise and pound foolish, but then I like 5k mile oil changes on these new direct injection turbocharged engines.

My Mazdaspeed3 was fed Pennzoil Platinum exclusively and it performed flawlessly through 60k miles on 5k OCIs. A look at the valvetrain through the oil fill hole revealed an engine that was spotless inside! HTO-06 approved, maybe I'll just go with that on MC filters - super cheap oil changes!
