Sounds like most of the major brand synthetics will already meet GF-5 specs, other than fuel economy. Ultra is the only oil claiming they exceed GF-5. Amsoil is field testing their GF-5 products now.

The only area where some may need improvement, from what I have read, is increased fuel economy.

For which part?

Source for Mobil 1, was a Mobil engineer.

Source for Amsoil, was Amsoil. They are testing their GF-5 oils now.

Ultra claims it on the bottle.

Wrong!!!!! The new conventional PYB states right on the back that it exceeds GF5...go see for yourself...it's on there. I have a jug of it waiting to go into one of my cars now. Synthetic oil is so unneccesary for most people and applications these days.

Yeah...I wasn't trying to mock you..but just making a point that PYB is already exceeding GF5 while everyone is so worried about this fanatical need to run synthetic while not really needing it. PYB is the "explitive".... I'll never look back, it's all I'll use. They have been and continue to be ahead of the game. Just wish it wouldn't have taken me so long to finally realize it. Also, it states on the front that it cleans out to 40% of sludge. I mean good grief guys. I know it's marketing and perhaps some truth, but what other conventional will claim to do that now? If you ask me, PYB sounds like synthetic oil... :)

You like PYB great use it but don't mock people that use and require a synthetic, there's no way in [censored] id use a conventional in my severe towing/hauling high temp conditions/operations.

GF-5 isn't the second coming....

I'm sure PYB is fine for you now, but years down the road when engine builders are extending OCIs to 10-15K and requireing synt. oil, very little dino will be available.
