Nothing really out of ordinary... just glad to see that media is still perfectly intact after 10k miles...

It looks a lot like the Astra Ecotec filter.

Cartridge filters are cool because you can check out the actual content and get an idea how long they are good for, especially for the people who change them excessively.

Close enough, lol.

These and other similar filters are designed for up to 2 year / 30K miles, so 10K miles is a piece o' cake.

I agree. I would re-use this filter for another 10k miles.

I'm starting to like the cartridge filter concept. You can inspect your filter media/design/quality before you buy and at any time during your OCI. Fantastic concept!

Looks great for 10k miles.

If the cartridge filter housing is mounted on top of the engine like in BMW or MB. If it is bottom mounted like in a Toyota then it's very un-convenience to remove and re-install.

inconvenient, yes. Possible with some top up, yes

Spin on cans are nay on all counts. You can only inspect after the job is done... not ideal.

My Fusion takes a cartridge filter and all of the brands look good, including Fram cartridge filters.

The Fram filters looked fine in my Ecotec as well.

I always figured they looked good was because there was no way to hide the cheap stuff inside a can.

Anyway, there is one reason I don't like cartridge filters: They almost always cost more.

I've been using Mahle filters for years now. Yes most of their filters are made in Austria, including their high quality air filters too. Since I own a couple of VWs they are an OEM. The prices aren't that bad either, usually just a tiny bit more than a basic Purolator or Fram if you order on the net.
