Is it a magnetic plug?
I like them as another 'gauge' if you will; another way to monitor the engine.
Short of cutting open an examining the filter, which many of this crowd do,
or a chip detector it is the only easy way to see if an engine is making metal.
Several do, or at least did. I cannot remember which ones exactly from my past but IIRC I believe some of my VW, SAAB and BMW's from the very late 80's through early 2000's had them as OE and as 930 noted, many if not most gearboxes have them.Waste of time. If they helped the car manufactures would of put them in.
Should I buy the Nissan (Nismo) OEM mag. engine oil drain plug for $17+tax OR is there another brand that will supersede with a much stronger and overall better magnetic drain plug?
who makes oil filters that are magnetic? No, I ditched my magnetic plug(s) in favor of the Fumoto. Magnets on the oil filter are more efficient than on the drain plug if one wants to trap ferrous material.

Magnetic plugs are for systems without oil filters.
FilterMag sir! I have one and there is always an imprint....who makes oil filters that are magnetic?
I bought one years ago. Didn't know the current price....Crazy times!Well over $100! That's crazy!
Do they make a significant difference? Probably not, and let's remember that manufacturers really only care about vehicles lasting through warranty.Waste of time. If they helped the car manufactures would of put them in.
