What benefit do you guys perceive from a magnetic drain plug?

Trapping ferrous metal. I use the Dimple Plugs, the finest I've seen yet. (http://www.drainplugmagnets.com). Have them in all cars and previously in 2 aircraft.

It magnetizes their drain plug. It provides a warm, ferrous feeling.

Standard equipment on our GMC fleet trucks. You can bet there is some sort of benefit or they would save a nickel and stop using them!

1. traps ferrous debris too small for oil filter.

2. visually shows you amount of iron wear every time you do oil change. You can weight it if you want.

If this is not enough for a real BITOGer, I don't know what to say.

I want to second Sam's comment about the Dimple brand plugs. I ordered a set for my BMW; engine, trans, and diff. I am ultra impressed with the quality of these parts - and I am a difficult person to please!
