Every t-case I've opened up has a screen at the oil pickup, so whether that's a "filter" is something BITOG would happily debate for the nextFilter magnets are expensive, but only for the engine. For differential and transfer case, maybe I should be installing magnetic plugs with my fluid changes as they have no filtering and go longer without a fluid change?
Note there's also always a magnet under the screen. Magnetic plugs are readily available for many makes. I've installed them in NP261/3s, but they tell you to remove the magnet under the screen. In truth I don't think it matters much either way.
