Magnefine and clutch material

Those of you using magnefine filters on your transmission, how good is the filter at removing clutch material and otherwise keeping the fluid clean? I have searched and found many recommendations, but no real experiences yet. I also see that the web site claims 3 micron filtration of ferrous metal particles, but I don't see any data on the non-magnetic part of the filter. Does anyone have more info?

I sent an e-mail about the Magnefine filter and recieved this response. I'm still looking for feedback about the cleanliness of the transmission fluid when using this filter.

I bought (3) of the Magnefine filters for (2) auto power steering units and (1) hydrostatic drive on my walk behind mower. I flushed the PS units several months ago and was appalled by the gritty junk that came out! I just overlooked PS fluid as a maintenance item. I am a little dissappointed to read your post that they filter to 25 microns of non-ferrous material. I may have to re-think my hydrostatic installation, as it has a 25m spin on filter and a magnetic drain plug.

RJ, I would expect the magnet in the Magnefine filter to attract metals in a much better way than a magnetic drain plug. I don't think you could go wrong by installing it. Also, if what they say about ferrous material in the oil causing most of the non-ferrous wear, then 25 um should be sufficient.

That being, said, it appears that if I try this, I'll be the first to know how well it cleans up dirty transmisssion fluid. I can't find any references to it's cleaning ability here or on the diesel stop site.
