Well, at 95,000 km on my 2008 Ford Edge, I made the jump to synthetic oil today.

The vehicle has usually seen conventional Quaker State Green Bottle 5W-20 with a FRAM orange can (have used occasionally a NAPA Gold).

So today I changed the oil and put in Pennzoil Platinum 5W-20 and replaced the filter with a Mobil 1 filter.

The reason I did this is because winter has started to come where I live and since I don't like lying on the driveway at -40 C to change the oil, I figure I can go the 10,000 - 12,000 km before changing again.

OK, OK, I mean, great choice of oil and filter!

Actually, I have a FRAM Ultra in my stash, but I'm saving that for the next oil change, which will be around February.

In the spring I'll probably go back to Quaker State Conventional with the orange can again.

I stick with what it says on the oil cap (5w-20). Besides, I keep the car plugged in when it gets that cold.
