Before and after of Mustang I had Maaco do for me two years ago. I removed all the lights and trim and wet sanded it some before I took it. Cost me less than $400 otd.

My experience with Maaco's work is that it looks fine from a distance, and the paint beads water like crazy, with no wax on it. Up close, you'll likely find overrun on rubber & chrome trim, flaws in the clearcoat, and paint where it doesn't belong (such as the eggcrate grille on my '82 Mustang). Your results may vary depending on the store.

It looks great. You did most of the heavy lifting so to speak, they did a nice job with the paint work. Win, win.

Every thing I've read or heard says it's a great deal if your paint is garbage and it's an old car. I mean, you get what you pay for, but with no knowledge I painted the car I had in high school myself (with a cheap spray gun I found at a garage sale) and it looked ten times better than the peeling clear coat and horrible faded paint. So it really depends on what your car looks like and what your expectations are. If I had a 20 year old car with peeling paint and I planned to keep it, I wouldn't hesitate. It's not going to make it look worse.

I wouldn't hesitate, just research specific stores like others have said. My brother's FIL had a 96 Ram 1500 painted years ago and I always thought it looked good; two tone even. I believe he paid around 1100 for everything.

Can't say enough. Mid range, single stage with clearcoat, upgraded sealant, some body work {sagging door, slightly pranged fender] : $1250.
I'm more than pleased. No orange peel, over spray, dirt in the paint.
Each MAACO is an independent franchise so every one will have a varying degree of quality.

I had a car done there. Factory paint was coming off. I did a little sanding and they sprayed it. It looked good enough to sell the car quickly. Basically at the lower prices they don't do much prep. The finish had some dirt in it. The more prep you do, the better it will come out. I saw it a couple years later and the paint was starting to come off.
Years ago, The Maaco in the town I lived supposedly had a guy that really knew how to apply paint. I had an 80 Trans Am I picked up cheap and needed a paint job. I prepped the car getting it as straight as possible and removing everything. I paid 399 (remember, this was 1989) and the car looked awesome.
They even got the flex agent on all the plastic parts right. I last saw the car five years ago and it still looked good.

I agree with you. Way too many overly sensitive people on here with questions asked more than once. Usually those folks with over 10,000 posts. Puts them in that God position. Anyway, I used Maaco to paint my MGB way back in 83. Did a great job and held up really well over the years.
Not sensitive at all. Actually I was trying to be helpful, as some people may get tired of answering the same question over and over again. So a better post may already exist.

Years ago I had an older daily driver that I did some at-home body work on. Basically just crash panel replacements. Prepped at home and drop it to my local Maaco for a 2-stage spray. Turned out fantastic! Now, the standards weren't super high for that job but it would have been good enough for any mid-mileage daily driver IMHO.
More recently, I called a local Maaco (now in a different area) about spraying a fiberglass tonneau. Never made it past the phone call as they were openly hostile to me

Wow.....haven't seen one of these in years. Had this '85 for a while in 1990 - 1991, but it had too many problems (5 years old with only 25,000 miles on it) so I got rid of it. U still have yours?

Since Maacos are franchises, look for ones with good reviews. Go in and ask to see their work firsthand. The shop I went to was "Maaco Certified." I was surprised with how good everything came out. All the prep was handled by Maaco, including sanding down the shot clearcoat areas. I had them do a Shelby Lancer in the late 90's early 2000's. It was the local one here in Bremerton Wa. I did some of the prep and towed it over.
They finished it up, sprayed it and I applied the Shelby decals. It was 500 bucks back then and they did an awesome job.
Place is still open and since it is near the dealership complex (Ford, Chevy, Buick, Toyota, Honda, VW, KIA) with the listed dealerships about 1/4 to 1/2 a mile from the place they
do tons of work for them on the used stuff.
Everything I have seen come out of this Maaco has been pretty decent.
