M3P 0-60; nuthin' too it. 10 second qtr...

That's something that needs to be publicized more. Track mode isn't the trick. Track mode ramps the cooling up and keeps the battery temps down for longer track sessions, not to mention relaxes the traction control. The traction control is so smart on these cars that it actually is faster in a straight line in normal mode with a warm battery. I put my MYP in track mode one day with wet pavement and it did a rolling 20mph 4 wheel burnout. They also allow power oversteer even without putting it in drift mode with track mode enabled. Even more than the extra power, the big selling point for me was track and drift mode.

What gets me is the online magazines, etc., race Model 3s against other cars and enable track mode; that's wrong for acceleration runs.
Are they stupid or trying to give other cars, which cost a ton more, a chance by sandbagging the M3P power?

I don't really need to go any faster than I already can. Sure, going 0-60 in under 3 is pretty neat, but, between 4-5 is fine with me. I don't even get that many opportunities to use what I have, with the suburbs growing up around us. (we were out in the country when we bought our current house, but oh well)

yeah, YI will never do a 3 second 0-60 run, nor will I race on a quarter mile track. Similarly I never used the potential of my Corvettes, '66 GTO, etc. The Bi-Turbo MBZ across the street sounds are pure Heaven, the Taycan Turbo at the end of the street is simply gorgeous.

Boys and their toys I guess! I will tell you this, our Tesla is a flat out blast. I would buy another tomorrow if I lost this one. I am very satisfied with the car.

After owning our Model S Plaid for a little over a month, I'll say it gets off the line pretty good. But I knew that from years of 'racing' them with my now 23 year old Sportbike. The old Sportbike which is much harder to get a good launch with, will quickly pull away from the Plaid, and leave it in the dust. Our modified sportscar will do the same.

The Plaid is pretty quick and can go a couple mph over 200 mph, but it's about as exciting as standing in the kitchen making a smoothie in a blender. A bit of whirring, and it's done. It's a nice business tax deduction anyway.

If I had a classic Corvette with a 4 speed, I'd probably at least wind it out in 1st and 2nd if I was first in line at a stoplight. I definitely do some short blasts with the Lightning, there is a 2 lanes to 1 merge in a 55 zone pretty close to my house and if I'm in the front of the line, I make sure there's no doubt who's out front.

2nd gear, with a flat torque curve 427, is where the fun is. Pull pull pull! Now the M3P is on a completely different level, but that's where 60 years of technology gets you.

Don't get too crazy with that Lightning...

65 GTO? Pics please!
Sure! didn't mean to derail and I think i've posted this before but here ya go. Crazy to think how much faster new cars are than the old ones we used to think were so fast!

I'm also the guy who will not go 1mph above the speed limit in the neighborhood. As the signs that people like to put out say, I drive like my kid lives there, when I'm on residential streets.

When I was in college many years ago and delivering pizza, they were hard core about following the speed limits, and I was always like, this is so stupid. I can go 5 or 10 over and nobody will notice. Then one day when I just happened to be driving the 25mph posted speed limit, a 3 year old sprinted out in the middle of the street directly in front of me without warning. I was able to stop in time but it was really close, I mean no more than inches. If I had have been speeding I probably would have hit that little kid. I never forgot that.

Yea if you grew up in the Malaise Era like many of us did, those 60s muscle cars were really fast! I learned to drive on cars that could only maintain 45-50 going up a mountain pass with your foor flat to the floor. lol....

Spot on. And 5 mph over is one thing, but when cars fly down the street at whatever speeds, I yell.
And there is no one group; it might be a beater, a soccer Mom or someone going to work with a bunch of stuff in his/her head. Once I yelled at a black and white...

And I've made more than my share of mistakes, if I am to be honest.

I'm amazed how I get passed set at 4-5 over. I don't feel comfortable in most situations driving faster than that. I don't want a ticket and it's really not necessary. I can handle driving much faster and I have on the track, but that's not what I would think the average driver would expect.
