Wanted to try 5W50 and found this - not an earth-shattering deal like Walmart "errors" or the Pennzoil $25 rebate but the price seems to be decent as the demand is not high for these. This stuff runs very nicely in my generator - doesn't burn oil on hot days and demonstrably less glitter in the oil when changing it. This is a good price.

No...been using xW40. As the car is reaching 20 years old, thought I would try 5W50..

What are the different purposes? Intended applications? between Mobil 1 FS X2 and Supercar 5w50 oils?

The data fields / test info provided on PDS for each is different. It’d be nice to have a side by side comparison using all the same metrics - does that exist?

Is this different than the 5w50 supercar Mobil has had around for a long time?

Yes, very different. I have VOA's of both oils on this site. Supercar has lower detergents but higher anti-wear additives, and is meant more as a performance oil, not a long drain oil. However FS-X2 still has lots of zinc and is a good oil.

I have used both oils in my GT500 Mustang, and have been on a race track with both oils. No problems with either.
