They are about the same product as Fram ToughGuards. Very good stuff. They are actually made in the same factory ast ToughGuards, and M1's specs are similar to Fram ToughGuards for gettin out dirt and dirt holding capacity.
I think M1 oil filters are overpriced for what you get. Good filter, just overpriced, and I think its because people like to "match" their Mobil1 oil with the Mobil1 oil filter on a change.
They are good, Fram Ultra seems better specd and lower priced, that is my choice for minimum 10k oci.
What is the application, car engine etc.
How long is your oci?
There are cheaper options for shorter oci, like motorcraft.
I mostly use M1 filters, although I have a Fram Ultra on the mini-van right now. Of the 3 UOAs I've done with them, the "insolubles" measure came back very low.
Don't obsess about the $4 difference between the M1 and the like most people on this board.
But why buy 2 M1 filters when for same money you can get 3 Fram Ultras.
No one is saying M1 is bad filter. TG offer similar performance for less, ultras are even better.

True that. Fram Ultra: I can't find any other oil filter that has great performance like that unless you go to a more expensive microgreen oil filter. Fram Ultra is a great choice. Many people who have looked at this agree. thanks Fram

I use M1 oil and do 5k OCI. On my van, 15k miles would take 18 months.
Yes they should last that long. Several times on these forums it was shown that its hard to reach the junk capacity on these glass and cellulose blended filters like M1.

Do you recall reading any information on whether they get better with more mileage like some of the other filters?

All filters tend to get more efficient with use as the larger pores get block by debris.
Sounds alright. I've never seen test runs to prove it. Have you? Air filters yes.

After reading a few threads on here I realize that I have been throwing too much money away on oil filters. I have been tossing the Mobil 1 filter after 3k miles!
I'm thinking of stretching my Mobil dino out from 3k to 5k miles and leaving the Mobil 1 oil filter on for 2 oci. Thoughts?
