This is the second run of M1 TDT 5w40 and the analysis is the well know Dyson analysis, WELL WORTH IT. I now have RLI 5w40 in and have 2 more runs after this sitting in stockpile. I will be working for 7500 mile drains and from what I have (some I cant talk about) this is easily in sight. Oil filter is the Motorcraft and is doing great, oil filter is the K&N drop in and is helping with the fuel issue as you can see. Enjoy.

Looks very good to me. I would have stuck with it. Tbn of 6.1 and still a 40 grade.

Notice how Amsoil AFL sheared down to a 30 grade. This oil always drops a grade, similar to Mobil 1 0w40.

Well in fairness, AFL was also the longest in service. They all sheared. It only starts off at a TBN of 8 ..but that doesn't look like that would be an issue across all of these oils over double (or nearly) the mileage.

This has got to be the fastest UOA trend to normalizing that I've (just about) ever seen. Everything calmed down to noise rather quickly.

I like your results on the Rotella T synthetic.
What kind of vehicle?
You ought to try much longer OCI.

Charlie

Pablow it was a less then 500 miles difference between the longest and the next longest.

I think it shows that Amsoil in this case is not worth the extra money one pays to be a prefered customer+shipping + the price of the oil. I think the real runner here is RTS and Delvac-1 since both can be had OTC for far less then Amsoil and they are not doing any better or worse then AMsoil! Not in this case. Now I would put S3K 5W30 up against all other 5W30's except maybe Redline so each company has strong and weak product area's. Rotella T and D-1 5W40's know their market and have good combo of base stocks and additives.

The next in line is TDT and it starts with a TBN of 10.7

GC did about as good.

It's Gary, btw

Redline 5w40 is probably the best 5w40 you can buy for a PCMO. IMO. The Amsoil equiv to M1 TDT is DEO, not AFL.

Charlie, this is a Mazda Speed6. 2.3L direct injection turbo.

ZZMAN, as I understand the CJ-4 spec'g the calcium is reduced in favor of the magn.

My goal here is to increase my OCI up to 7500 miles while minimizing the intake deposits associated with the direct injection issues, so therein is my justification for higher end oils like Amsoil, RLI, or RL. All 3 companies working to make the best product possible that when used properly willl most likely come in at overall reduced cost from the OTC brands. Im also wanting to keep this car for another 10 years so the higher end oils make more sense for me in the long run given this apps reputataion.

I'm curious to know what you'll be looking for in your next UOA results for the RLI that will indicate whether or not it is working better than the M1 TDT in your application, particularly with regard to valve deposits.

Cheers,

Jeff

just run water injection kit and you will not have to worry about deposits..

are mazda DI deposits as bad as they are on Audi/VW?

I know this is OT but basically one can only confirm deposits in these DI engines with a visual inspection...right? That is a UOA will not tell anything much in this regard

That little Mazda Turbo did stabilize in a hurry, didn't it?
While I use Mobil 1 in all our rigs (except the tractor), I must admit you have selected excellent oils. Anyone who bashes Rotella T, the Euro Amsoil formula or TDT/Delvac-1 is either just being silly or showing their ignorance. Just use the one you like best and that excellent engine will give great service.
