My sisters Lexus IS 300 Sportcross (wagon). It has the inline 6 Toyota engine. 70% city, 30% hwy in Miami, FL. I am pretty sure I used M1 SS (not EP) for this sample. I refilled with 5.6 quarts of M1 10W-30 EP. I also drained out 3 qts of trans fluid and refilled with T-IV as well as drained out the radiator and refilled with the Toyota Red coolant/distilled water. I think I will go with OCI of 7500 mi or 1 year.

Blackstone Comments: Universal averages show typical wear metals for an oil from this type of engine after about 4865 miles run on oil. Your oil was in use 6543 miles, and we found all wear at around average levels and in the correct balance to show normal mechanical parts inside. Air (see silicon) and oil (0.4% level of insolubles) filtration appear normal. This was 10W/30 engine oil with no fuel, moisture or anti-freeze in it. The TBN was 2.7 (additive left) -1.0 is too low. The oil could have stayed in use longer. Try 7,000 - 7,500 miles for the next oil change interval & sample.

Thanks Bryanccfshr and Drew99GT. It is a fabulous engine. Pulls strongly and sounds wonderful as it does so. It isn't very fuel efficient though. The 02 IS also has a nice automatic transmission, unlike my dad's 05 ES 330 and my mom's 03 ES300 which have automatic transmissions which really perform poorly. The 05 is worse than the 03 in our case. I really hope that the new IS's automatic transmission performs better. Luckily, my sister likes her car and wants to keep it for another 4 years. We live in the sunbelt, so the 1st generation IS's poor winter performance is not a factor for us.
