For a shed I'd buy some brackets and simply run 1x boards down the wall as shelves. No need to build bookcases.

I am a little OCD and the shed is really more of a cabin.

Mid-level big box store mitre and table saws reasonably cheap and are fine for jobs like this. They will probably last a lifetime as well. I've got a Bosch 10" slide mitre that's 10 years old now, probably over a 1000' of cuts on it, and has spent weeks on top of scaffolding with a tarp covering it...

My plan calls for 56" tall, 25.5" wide and 9.25" deep with an 0.125" backing.

2 sides 54.5x 9.25 x 0.75
1 top and 1 bottom 25.5 x 9.25 x 0.75
7 shelves 24 x 9.25 x 0.75
1 backing 56 x 27 x 0.125

I need 2x54 + 2x 25.5 + 7x24 = 327 inches or 27.25 feet of 9.25" wide wood per shelf unit or 109 feet for all for four units plus plywood for the backing. That's a lot of wood. Also need 36 construction screws and 18 brass nails per unit.

Seasoned wood.

I picked up the wood this morning and just finished measuring and marking all the required pieces. The guy who sold me the wood cut the 1/8 inch plywood backing to size for me, but I could have just used a utility knife, I think. My sawing will be limited to making crosscuts with my neighbor's table saw. We just cracked 100 degrees and it looks like it will get hotter still. The raven is watching everything from his high perch, complaining loudly. This is going to be fun.

It's done. I got now four shelf units like the one shown below. The wood cost me altogether $250 and the high tech construction screws were about $25. Although the screws have hole boring threads, I did drill pilot holes for better precision. I didn't need a countersink, because the screws have cutters on the back of the head that allow countersinking. I already had the brass nails for the backing. I'm happy with how the project turned out. Now I have to lie down. Too much heat and beer doesn't become me.

Nice shelf. How did you affix the shelves to the sides?

The backing doesnt match. Will you stain it?

Thanks. Since I don't need adjustable shelves, I simply affixed the shelves with two 2 inch construction screw from each side. I don't care about the backing color not matching. I simply went with the cheapest 1/8 inch plywood the guy had. I will neither stain nor paint the wood. The shelves are spaced to accommodate nine 8.25x9.5x 2 inch cigar boxes each. One shelf unit can hold 72 cigar boxes, so I have storage room for 288 cigar boxes.
