Lucas 10w-50

Somebody on another forum posted about this oil. I'm not sure if it's new or not as I've never paid much attention to Lucas products. The oil claims to meet or exceed API SG/SF/CC/CD, JASO MA, ACEA A3.

Since I couldn't find any specs on it, I emailed Lucas. They sent me a TDS that shows the following:

API Gravity : 31.8

Specific Gravity @ 60F: .8665

Density @ 60F : 7.215

Viscosity @ 40C, cSt : 168

Viscosity @ 100C, cSt : 18

Viscosity Index : 118

Flash Point, COC F: 435


What's wrong with that picture? Doesn't the 40C viscosity look awfully high while the VI looks awfully low for a synthetic oil? Do you think they switched the two numbers by mistake?

lucas oil is worse than most store brands. IMO

That VI is a tragedy if accurate.

Their gear oil is a dud too.

Exactly, there is something wrong with those spec's.
I've seen a lower KV40 spec' in a 20W-50 dino!

UPDATE: They did confirm that the two numbers (viscosity at 40C and VI) were transposed.

Lucas is as bad with their specs as SOPUS.
