I fretted over what ATF to put in my '02 Land Rover Disco for the better part of a month, you know the BITOG disease....right!
Finally decided to use the Lubro Moly ATF III after an email exchange with Lubro Moly in Germany. The fluid isn't listed as meeting Dexron III specs on their website, but the person on the other end of the email assured me that it did. Well, got the bottles in, via internet order, and sure enough, right there on the bottle was the Dexron III spec.
I drained the pan and refilled it today and was totally surprised when I started to put the new fluid in that it isn't red, it's clear. It looks mostly like heavy water. I thought there was a universal red coloring on ATF. Maybe it's just my limited experience with European fluids, but I was expecting red.
Anyway, coloring aside, I feel just swell, German transmission, now with German fluid. All is right with the world.
