I have read that some older Chrysler transmissions are picky about fluid. I used to have a car with the A604 and that was one car that to have ATF+4. No Dexron or Mercon for those transmissions or they WILL fail. I don't know if other Chrysler transmissions are more forgiving about non OEM fluids. The Volkswagen I now have is like that also. Is there any sort of licensing a fluid manufacturer must pay for to label their fluid with a Volkswagen spec similarly to the way a fluid must be tested by Chrysler before they will allow it to be labeled as ATF+4?
