I'm new to boating and have bought a great Cobra Boat with a low hours 2001 Merc 200 EFI 2 stroke oil injected outboard.
In an effort to get my Fiance more inclined to like boating/fishing with me, I would like to make the engine smoke as little as possible.
It has runs well, has great compression, and has brand new plugs. but definitely smokes and stinks. It injects to a 50:1 ratio. I have done a decarbing JIC someone asks.
What oil do you recommend for the least smoke? Its been currently running quicksilver synthetic blended. I'm thinking about switching to full synthetic for no other reason than smoke.
TIA

It seems to smoke as much as other 2 cycle mercs from that age. Just if I could make it smoke a little less, I'd be happier because I would hear less about it.

Assuming there is no kind of adjustment; maybe try some kind top shelf dirt bike oil (Motul): probably 2-3x the cost, but how much do you really use? If an extra $5 makes your time with the girl more enjoyable 100% its worth it.

Looks great! See if you can buy a few different brands in quart-sized bottles to take with you on separate boating trips to see which one you like the most. As a side note, our boat service center back in the day would always advise us to use Quicksilver premium plus in a Mercury outboard though (just to be safe).
