Love the looks of the 2024 Chevy Trax

fdcg27: Thanks for putting abstemious into my vocabulary.

Of manual or automatic Metros, one was always a 3 cyl., the other always a 4. I forget which.
I worked with a guy who commuted in a Metro, the suspension parts of which found themselves with no body to bolt onto.
Well I knew someone with the 3 cyl / manual - so that must have been it.

You're better off getting a lower trim trailblazer with the 1.3. Basically the same car with a more powerful engine.

It went from a weird shaped sissy mobile to a sexy looking machine. The price is incredible in this era of $ 40-50,000 vehicles.

It does blow my mind that such a small engine powers them.
I think it looks alright.

Right, I'm betting the automatic would most likely have come with the four cylinder only. The three cylinder probably didn't have enough power for an auto trans back then.

Assuming these are still Chinese import GMs, I've seen enough repair videos on them that even I would avoid them.

Watch one of the later South Main Auto videos, where a rear wiper motor got replaced on a Buick version. The metal clips that hold the plastic interior panels on are once and done unless you are Eric O.
Great news: They are not Chinese!

My old, great, fast enough 1997 Honda Civic had 127 hp for 2600 lbs. RIP where ever you are...

The Trax has 138 hp for 3100 lbs.

No big deal in a city... but doesn't sound like a car for a 100-mile daily commute in West Texas, even w/the turbo.

looks great though. the engine better be tolerant of long oil change intervals by owners who don't know better.

162 fts. torque at 2500 rpm, it accelerates fine at least for me.

People here seem to forget there has been a long history of cars like this that worked well for people over the years. VW beetle, Toyota Corolla, K-car, Ford Escort, the original saturn - i forget its name. They won't last 10 years, but they might get people reliably to work for 7, which is what there designed to do.

I agree, the redesign did that model a bunch of favors. 100% different looking vehicle and actually has some visual appeal vs the boring vehicle it used to be.

Pulled up the window sticker for one the local Chevy dealer had and it's a "K" VIN meaning final assembly in Korea. IIRC, about 20% of parts content was from China.

IMO, the cool part about that window sticker example is that is full optioned out.

And then the lease option is really attractive if you're trying to keep your monthly as low as possible and you don't drive a bunch.

I picked one that was fully loaded up to see what it would run.
