love Pennzoil but hate the jug

i got the 3 gallon black jug with the screw on green cap to store the used oil in from wal mart. Drain it into my drain pan that has the screw on cap then transport it back home and pour into the other one until I am ready to make a used oil trip to napa or autozone.

before I got that i would use old windshield washer fluid jugs or slowly pour it back into whatever oil jug I poured it from

I don't mind 'the look' of the new Pennzoil jugs, but I've never 'used' them, and I have heard they are a pain. I really like the look/use of the older, 1-gallon Pennzoil jugs. Had a couple of those - they were easy to work with....

Agreed! My dad has dozens of them leftover from the years and I use them all the time.

The problem is not the container, it's the funnel. You're using a smooth funnel. Find one that has ribs on the outside. The ribs are specifically designed to allow air to escape and to preclude belching.

i love the L-M jugs! they are great, with that pop-out spout. awesome for pouring the oil into the engine.

Really? None of my Havoline DS bottles have ever leaked. I had over 30 quarts of the Synthetic and 12 quarts of the conventional and no problems with any of them.. I still like the way they look :D As for storage of oil, I use all sorts of old containers like the 2 gallon kitty litter jugs, washer fluid gallon jugs, old 4 or 5 quart oil jugs, etc. But I also have a drain pan that has a built-in lid for storage, although it doesn't like to get very tight and tends to leak if it shifts around. So I only use it to store fluids in the garage, not in the hatch of my car. I have two of the new Castrol GTX gallon bottles with the "easy pour handle" and whatnot, I like the way they look and how they're easier to pour, but I don't know how they'd work yet for recycling. I use a wider anti-freeze funnel, so I don't know if that has anything to do with the airflow.

Agreed. Just put some of their HM in the old Saturn, no clear lines on the side to determine how much is remaining in the bottle.

Well, I went to Wal-_ _ _ _ (can't bring myself to say that word). Your right, the bottles stink. What were they thinking.

The old PZ Synth quart bottles with the lil handle were pretty silly. I'm not super-picky about the bottle or jug, EXCEPT if the cap is one that if you over-tighten it, the thing clicks back loose. I pawned one of these off on my friend with a brew of oil/mlep for his car and the thing spilled in his trunk. I think Mobil had some quart bottles that did this for a while. Anyway, I have a zillion Delo jugs, maybe 30-40 saved, and they give me no grief at all. I think one split on the seam when dropped. I have a single Chevron Supreme 5q that is nice and I re-use it. Maybe the best jug is the Saab Synth 4L with the flex/retractable nozzle. It's not terribly functional, but I can't get myself to toss it away. It would make a nice funnel if cut back. btw- people actually buy funnels????

Also, I save mlep bottles for top-off oil in the trunk for friends. I don't need t/o oil on the road, I do it all at home.

That's the one, but it looks a lot better in that picture than it does in person. I notice the new Rotella T bottle yesterday, and I like it Vs the old one.
