Lots of checking oil quality, ever check quantity?

Anyone ever done any research to verify that we are getting the amount we are supposed to get of lubrication products? Is the risk of short changing too great that manufacturers wouldn't take the chance? Does a government agency do regular checks on packaging like they do gas pumps?

I'd bet that they weigh the quarts/jugs as they are heading for the case. Or maybe weigh the pallet as they know what everything should weigh.

I know when I worked at a pipe company (back in the 70's) they weighed the bundle and if something was heavy or light, we had to take that bundle to QC.

There was some that was out of spec...

Today the liability of short selling would be a nightmare. Just think of Bill's oil only having 28oz in a quart. All the recalls and PR mess.

jugs that have graduations on the side can't be more than a few ounces off. Ive looked from time to time and found them to all be pretty consistent...

Pretty much correct. Occasionally I measure a quart in my metric beakers and it is very close to a volume of 0.95 Liters.

Also consider that most bottle filling stations are computer controlled and very precise.
