I've got a 2006 Ford Fusion w/ a 2.3L Duratec. I really like my car and have done aesthetic and performance upgrades. The car currently has 11K on it.
I did a drain on my last fill at 7800. The numbers weren't bad:

I was running that OCI fairly stock only using a panel K&N filter. After that change, I started to run custom 93 octane tunes (I only use Shell V-Power) and continued to use the panel filter. Halfway through that run, I added a 3 oz maintenance dose of Auto-RX and three doses consecutively of Lucas UCL just to keep things running nice and clean. I drained the oil the other day and kept the sample for another used oil analysis. The car now has 11K...I ran that oil for 3200 miles.
After that oil change, I added a Steeda air intake:

I'm running a new custom tune designed for the intake and the throttle response and low end torque are way beyond improved. I realize it's only a four-cylinder, but I wanted a little more pop and enjoy modifying my vehicle.
At any rate, here's my dilemma. That air intake system has an oiled K&N-style filter. While I enjoy modifying my car, I don't want to introduce increased silicone levels into my engine. I want to replace the cone style filter and I would prefer an Amsoil EaAU filter but I cannot find one that has a 3.25 ID, 6 in OD base and 5 inch top OD. I really think this would be the perfect setup for me, but I need it to be 3.25 to fit over the MAF meter housing. The 3.5 would be just too big to clamp down and I'd worry about dirt seeping in. The 3in ID is too small as the MAF meter housing is about 3 1/8 in OD and I'd have to slide on the filter just to get it on and it'd be a real tight fit.
That leaves me to this alternative:
AEM dry flow
This seems like it would be a great fit, but I'm not sure how they'd stack up as far as air flow and filtration. I would really prefer the Amsoil filter but I've heard good things about the dry flow too. I like the Amsoil feature of just vacuuming the filter to clean. The dry flow requires some cleaning solution...I don't know how necessary that is, but it's recommended.
Does anyone have any suggestions or other filter recommendations knowing the size that I need? The current filter has a 3.25 Flange ID, 5in media, 6in base and 5in top. I really like the intake but I don't want to do anything detrimental. For sure, I'll run this oil and then do a used oil analysis to determine where I'm at. Thanks for the help!
