One want something small that I can put on the balcony and grill a steak or sausage on once in a while. Nothing fancy. Do any of you use any of those? Can you recommend one? They seem to vary in price from $30 to over $100, although I'm not sure if more money = better grill. Something that's easy to clean would be nice.

Here are some examples I found:

Thanks for suggestions.

holland grill makes a very nice portable grill, i have one of there full sized grills and love it and used to have there small portable one and it worked great also

I've used cheap $20-25 portable grills for camping for years. They usually only last about 5 years with little use and are normally stored indoors. Last year I bought a Weber portable and paid about $55 for it. It appears to be much better made and cooks realy well. Time will tell how much longer it lasts. The burner seems to be a higher quality stainless.

Thanks.

I've got a bunch of these standard camping propane cylinders (like this one). Do you know if they can be used with this grill or do I need some kind of an adapter?

those cylinders will work with that webber, as most (if not all) small portable grills use the 1lb propane cylinder.

I emailed Weber with the question about using the 16.4 oz propane cylinder with that grill, and strangely enough they responded (after a week) that they do not recommend that. They did not say why though.

In the meantime, I managed to buy that grill and already used it with the 16.4 cylinder. It seems to be working fine. Hopefully it's not dangerous for whatever reason...

So far I've only tried some pork chops. They turned out well, although I think I've used too much meat tenderizer which made it a bit too salty. Will get it right next time.

Other than that, I wish it had a little more power. I guess I could try grilling with the top cover on.

Now I need to find a cover for it as I don't want to store it inside. Hard to find a cover that small. Any ideas?

If it fits an upside down rubbermaid container would last along time.
It also wouldn't be too difficult to staple together some vinyl (shower curtain).

Alton Brown doesn't like propane grill as he says they tend to make food taste of propane.

Rather, he prefers to use non-briquet charcoal instead. Saw this on a recent episode of "Good Eats".

The one thing I don't particularly like about this Weber grill (maybe other small grills aren't different) is that it doesn't generate enough heat. The meat will not exceed 150F unless you grill with the cover on.

Somehow I enjoy seeing the meat being grilled. With the top on, that joy is gone.
