Looking for 2012 Silverado drain pan with plug

I have a 2012 Silverado V6 with a 4 speed trans. looking for a normal capacity pan with a drain plug. Like a Dorman. Any recommendations? I would consider an extra capacity pan too. Need a filter recommending too. I am hearing about filter problems with aftermarket pans on the 2012.

Check Rockauto for something like a Dorman replacement.

I have a 2001 with a V8 and 4L60E. It has the "deep" pan, but it doesn't look very deep compared to the aftermarket stuff. I believe the way to tell regular from deep is that the deep pan has a "step" rather than a completely flat bottom.

Considering some recent posts here about troubles removing the factory drain plug, I would make sure it comes out of the replacement before installing the pan.

You can "add" a drain plug to your existing pan, for cheap.
Check out B&M plug kit #80250; can be found all over the net.

I installed one in my old Taurus pan. Actually installed it low on the sidewall of the pan, away from any internal obstructions. Put in on the "back" side so that when the front end of the car was up in the air, the bulk of the fluid would drain out the back. I put it on the sidewall because the Taurus was low slung and I was concerned about putting it on the bottom; the Silvarado may not have such concerns. But the sidewall system drained probably 99.9% of the fluid when the front was lifted enough for me to get under it.

Very effective; very cheap; never,ever leaked; easy to install if you can drill a hole and turn a wrench.

I would add a drain plug like dnewton3 suggests. I've done the same with good success.

I have this one on my S10 ZR2. Originally had a mag hytec but it didnt fit due to some exhaust member.

IIRC it has the step like a deep pan but uses a regular filter that I got from the dealer using my VIN (dont think my truck had a deep pan OEM).

Very tough! The only 2012 V6 within 500 miles of me. LS package too. Just what I wanted.
