I have a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado LS with 5.3 engine. I just changed oil and getting to the filter was a pain. I used a Fram XG3506 which is a very short filter. Does anyone make a really long filter that would fit this engine? I heard that some of the longer Ford filters would work. Please advise.

What's your intervals. If you're just doing less than 15k on that ultra you can keep using it unless you're trying to flush it. If you're just doing one OLM run anything will do.

You sure can. I totally recommed it. I have maintained 2000, 2004, and 2005 5.3 Silverados for my family. I always did 5000 mile oil changes with every other (10,000 mile) filter changes. Worked perfect!

Changing by oil monitor then leaving filter on for two would need to be tested first. So an oil filter cutter is needed.

I use following longer filters, Delco PF 61, Upf61R, Fram FE9837,WIX 51522, Napa 1522, Microgard MSL51522, K&N HP2006

On my wife's car the oil filters still look new when I cut them open when I would change the oil at 3,500 to 4,000 miles due to fuel dilution.
