Hoovie's Garage latest video is a Maserati with something like a 40k oil change interval. It's pretty sludged, but honestly better than I thought it would be. YouTube it if you're interested.
Possibly, yeah. The filter was, uh, ridiculous. They did an engine flush and used a bendable, funnel type thing. Fine, silty sludge stuck to it after draining the oil. Pretty bad. I'd do like 2-3 1k oil changes or until I didn't see the silty stuff.
Watched it. Given how much work it was to get to the filter I’m not surprised that they didn’t change the oil, then do a short run with new oil and then a flush—anything else i would think to do that. That filter couldn’t have been doing much, next one can’t possibly last that long either.
Guess the previous owner had other priorities eh? this car clearly wasn’t that expensive to them.
That was not a long oil change interval, that was vehicle neglect.
Plus, the mileage was since the last reset of the computer, not necessarily the last oil change (but from the looks of it, it probably was that many miles).
