Hello guys,
I could not find fuel filter under the VAN. Please let me know if somebody knows where to look?

Advance Thanks again for reply

Follow the fuel lines up from the gas tank and look up on the frame about where the sliding door and drivers door meet. It is bolted to the frame with 1 bolt.

You didn't say what model year it was. However, if it's like my 2004 Avalanche the fuel filter is located in the fuel tank. There is no longer a return line and a fuel pressure regulator. All this is done inside the fuel tank. The fuel filter is suppose to last a lot longer because it does not bypass fuel through the pressure requlator. So, a lot less fuel goes through the filter than before. Other GM vehicles are using this setup. I think Cadillac is one. I also think some Chrysler vehicles have used tihis system.

GM is not alone in doing this. I went looking for the fuel filter in my 2003 V-6 Camry. Finding none in the engine room, I headed for the on-line service manual. To my surprise, I found that it is also inside the tank now. To get to it, you have to take out the back seat and remove a service port and go in from above. I'm hopeful that it won't have to be done often since from the diagrams, the thing appears to be almost the size of a gallon milk jug. It should trap a whole lot of gunk before it restricts. When it does, it's not going to be a shade tree job. Smokers should put out their cigarettes before trying this one themselves. . .

Thanks for reply. I don't want to spend $50 for service manual (EBAY).

Factory Service manual is the best investment you can make on a vehicle, even if you get your work done elswhere,

i am getting that one. but my yr 2002 and selling is yr 2004. is that advisable to get 2004 instead of 2002?

Need to get the service manual for your exact year of car. Never know what small changes they may have made until they're staring you in the face with a half-disassembled car.

It's amazing they'd make them that hard to change. My Taurus' fuel filter is a 10 minute job. I couldn't even blow through it! It has a filter in the gas tank (only replace it when replacing the fuel pump) and one on the fuel line towards the rear of the car. I'd hate to have to get into the tank every time I wanted to change it. Luckily they last awhile.

Thanks for advice. I will wait

Be careful if not done right it can decompress in your face literally.

Follow the instructions by the book no matter how simple the EFI fittings look.

I could not see. I will go to dealer and see picture. They are helpful to locate parts and let you know..........

I am confused! If you changed the filter didn't you see where it was when you changed it? Why do you need a dealer to show you the fuel filter when you said you just changed it?

I was looking at wrong side but now I will look at driver side as you suggested.
I will post reply later.

I see now. If it is like my 98 TranSport it will take about 5 minutes to change. Everything is plastic, so nothing can rust.

I did find location of fuel filter and it is under driver and near sliding door but 1 feet inside. I had to jack uo car. Easy and just snap on. Got filter changed in 5 minutes. Thanks for your help....
