get it? )

I like the way he's looking at the camera.

I hope his fate is not similar to his cousin some years back....huge, but name slips my mind. Anyhow, dude was on display, some jerk tried to steal him, lobster was dropped and died......

My first thought when I read this story is that he'll be released and possibly caught again by Japanese or Chinese fisherman who won't be so concerned about his future.....

Let's say we throw you and the lobster overboard. Who do you think will make it longer?

Indeed. I wonder if the huge critters taste as good as the petite ones. I've reeled in some huge perch and such and they are no good to eat when they get get beyond a certain size.

Totally. I only keep rainbows, for example, in the 8 to 12 inch range when I go fishing.

I wonder how accurate the method is for determining the age of lobsters.

I would feel bad killing/eating a creature so much older than me.

5 lb lobsters ..of the north Atlantic variety, are just fine in the eating. That's the biggest we saw when we vended them. The tail is always somewhat dense ..but the massive claw section is just as tender (imo) as from the chicks on up.

Now cracking the claws on anything that big may be a challenge. We had a real hammer around when we ended up eating all the weak's and the dead's.

btw- if you boil a lobster and you spring the tail and it goes limp ..throw it out.

About 40 yrs ago, I dined on an 8 pounder and a 13 pounder. They tasted ok, but were chewy. I grew up eating lobster and prefer squid now-a-days.

When I was on Prince Edward Island, we bought lobsters fresh of the boat, and they were cooked for us right there on the dock.
I think they were about 7 lbs each and were quite yummy.
