Lifetime warranty batteries emerge

Lifetime for an everyday car to me is about 15 years. They rust, rot and are worn unless someone did not drive much.

I keep a used car about 10-14 years and replace. I could care less about resale and not a consideration in my “lifetime” use of vehicle.
This. I take care of my cars meticulously and it’s likely that they’re not going to do much more than that. At this point I don’t think I’d daily any car over 10 years old no matter how it’s maintained because of the nature and requirements of my job.

An EV with a long warranty is a pretty attractive proposition.

This is betting on the customer selling the vehicle LONG before the "lifetime" expires

The warranty transfers to the next buyer.
"The aforementioned private-vehicle warranty involves unlimited mileage coverage that is not limited to the first owner only — applicable to the change of owners in the future. Moreover, the extended lifetime warranty privilege is offered to not just new but also current customers who own the 4 MG models."

I guess that depends on the faith you have in the company making the batteries. Will they still be in business if/when it comes time to replace the battery? That's the question one has to ask himself if he/she thinks there could be a problem later on. If they have total faith and trust in the company or just don't care then go for it.

Goes for any product, right? I mean, if Tesla came out with the same statement, would we trust they will be here in that time frame?
One thing for sure, MG will not be allowed on our shores, so we can watch the UK to see who they perform and UK buyers can save money buying them I suppose. I suspect, being they come from China, the leading manufacturer of EVs it will be fine.

IN the meantime, no denying selling an EV used with a lifetime battery warranty is a HUGE PLUS for the general public. Not the public in these forums. ;)

That's always the case. I'm the wrong person to ask if Tesla came out with that statement. I'm not a fan, and take every comment coming out of that company with a grain of salt. My comments apply to people all over the world buying into a lifetime battery guarantee. I wish them well if they do buy into it.

I Agree, my point was only resale void of if a car company will still be in business. .
If you're selling a 10 year old BEV and the company still in business with a lifetime battery that will be worth more than selling a 10 year old BEV with a company still in business but no warranty.

Many may not know MG has a lineup of 15 models of Cars, SUVs and Trucks both EV and gasoline. They are not Tesla with less than a handful of EV only vechicles.

One such example of gasoline pickup. https://www.mgcars.com/en/mg-models/new-mg-extender-gc/overview
I would buy this! But you have to live in Europe

Yeah right? I didnt even know this stuff existed from MG. I dont even own a pick up but wow, based on looks, I want to own that one.
Always liked the idea for the look but other than towing the boat and some runs to Home Depot and Lowes ... 330+ days a year I have no need for a pick up except the satisfaction of the look!

Moreover, the extended lifetime warranty privilege
So why do you think they said this? If the warranty is lifetime unlimited, then why is their an extension to it? There is a catch somewhere. Ask Craftman Tools and Sears.

If you look up all the news, it clearly tells you MG has decided to extend the warranty of all their battery operated cars retroactive to even people who didn’t have the warranty before.

It is what it is if you want buy an electric vehicle with an eight year battery warranty choose that company or a lifetime your choice🙃
Well, actually not your choice, the choice of people in the EU

But ... you just posted this with your Made in China Device and Watched your made in China TV last night. ;)
Spec'd and ordered by non-Chinese masters. Apple IS made in China. They also require that the PSUs be a proper switched mode power supply(just like this ATX boxes) crammed in a tiny charging profile. You can Ebay the China clones, but it's at your own risk if you want to get shocked to death(many have already returned to the ground) because they don't build them the same.

Even the car lightbulbs made in China can cause damage to the wiring harness(again actually happened).

but his made in china cordless drill battery doesn't last 5 years...and it is made from the same 18650 cells as most EV batteries are.
