Driver's side headlight burned out. Bulb only lasted 14 years. Going to warranty it.

Anyway, while I wait for Jeep to warranty it, what new set should I get? (not warrantying it LOL)

I've been reading about the higher end ones, like the Sylvania Silverstars, zXe, Philips Extreme etc...I'd love more light output but I know that comes at the expense of bulb life. Some people have to replace them after a year...the Liberty sees quite a bit of night driving (probably about an hour a day) What's a bulb that does better than stock for illumination but I won't be replacing them every oil change?

Thanks!

That's a good question because the "extra light" did not make up for the "lessened life" for me. Because the bulbs are often a "whiter" light many perceive it as brighter. Try it out but before you change the bulbs completely. Change one bulb, then go out at night with a piece of cardboard and alternatively blank one side. Look down the road and judge for yourself. I had trouble getting past 1-1/2 years with some going out at 1 year. Back to normal bulbs for now, but if someone has found a winner, I'll listen.

What's a "perdiddle"? It wasn't in the dictionary. Paradiddle, a specific drum beat, was.

My guess is a one eyed animal / monster from a children's book.

It's a kids driving game. If you see a car with a burnt out light you yell Perdiddle or Padiddle. You accumulate points as your dad drives down the highway, being driven crazy by the yelling.

It takes a 9007 bulb. The Sylvania Extravision might be a good compromise from what I read.

I had the same question and figured it was one of those Aussie slang words.

I always yelled 'padiddle!' and then turned and punched my brother in the leg as hard as I could. Back seat wrestling then ensued.

Nothing like a good charley horse to spice up the ride in the back seat.

Typically followed by a Dad threat that he'd shut us up the hard way if he needed to.

Good times....

I've tried literally every "upgraded" headlight bulb out there.

I recently found the Silverstar Ultras in my Escape to be very dim at night (in fact a passenger commented on it) and since they are less than a year old I returned them and used the money to buy two of the cheapest bulbs at the auto parts store (Eiko brand, not even Sylvania)... Well it's more yellowy and not as white but real world visibility is MUCH better.

I also tried the very expensive recently introduced Silverstar zXe which is supposed to be THE BEST and they were barely whiter than the Ultras and not any brighter than the used old bulbs that were in the car.

I'm probably going to try aftermarket projector housings with HID or LED bulbs in the Chevy truck I just bought vs polishing the old lights. Maybe that will be brighter without blinding people! I'm not a big fan of LEDs or HIDs in stock housings meant for halogen bulbs, it is just too disrespectful and dangerous for other drivers.

They're pretty easy to polish, just be careful about melting the nubs off. I did my Jetta and my Dad's 97 at the same time and it was a breeze compared to the Jetta.

Yeah, I've polished them before... most likely I'll try that first and if I'm still not happy with the light I'll buy the aftermarket headlights. I want the best lights possible without affecting other drivers.

Xtravision have held up well for me, currently in my 2008 F150

The SilverStars in my 1993 Ranger always lasted over 10 years without problems.

You guys were doing it wrong. If you're driving with a girl and you spot three pediddles in a row, she owes you...
