I think we all must have those dishes. I have several. 8-D

Simplicity, 1 lb ground beef or turkey, 1 package of Winco store brand meatloaf mix, 1/2 cup water, 1 bottle of ketchup at the table. Baked potato and cole slaw. Ready in 1 hour.

This sounds like a wonderful recipe, by the way. You could use marinara sauce as a topping - Italian meatloaf. Mm, cheesy!

Well, i'm happy to report that last night's meat loaf was delicious! There was a bit of excess grease that we had to remove, so for next time will use lean hamburger either 93% or i'll grind my own as the sausage will likely be 70/30. However, the flavor was excellent on the above recipe.

Clean up of the crock was no problem at all, it washed right off with soap and water and light scrubbing(PAM helped alot pro'lly)

If i make in crock again, i will likely cut cook time to about 4.5 hours vs. 5(on low) as the edges were starting to toast a bit. This should also cook great in the oven.
On the agenda is to also use 1/2 cup ketchup and 1/2 cup salsa.

enjoy and keep on cooking!

The best part of meatloaf is the crunchy toasted edge!!!

Had some meat loaf made with deer meat last night. Couldn't tell a difference and neither could the boys. They were surprised they just ate Bambi lol.

I've been known to chuck a meatloaf in my smoker while cooking other stuff. Use your favorite recipe, just cook it in the pit while you have it lit.

For you guys that don't like ketchup try Heinz 57 or A1. About half way thru cooking I pull mine out and drain the grease, at that time I pour either one of them over the top and it turns out pretty good. I've just never been a ketchup guy.

Use whatever recipe you like, as long as you wrap the whole thing in a lattice work of Bacon.

Seriously.

Edit: And keep it on a rack elevated in the pan so as to keep it off the run off grease.

Mr. Nice: I made 2 while at brothers place for holidays. I used applesauce instead of eggs and they turned out great. I took one home with me
